Lucy Crawford — Workshop Review

March 2025

What a joy to host Lucy Crawford for her first workshop here in Hastings with AYH, I am so grateful she accepted my invitation to come!

In our blog piece promoting the weekend, I had written that Lucy is a unique, rare and highly knowledgeable teacher, but it had been over 10 years since I had worked with her. How would it be working with her after all this time?

Well, I need not have worried. Working with Lucy again was a truly magical, inspiring and extraordinary experience – she really is a very special and rare teacher.

What makes Lucy so special? Her teaching is very much rooted in the traditions of Ashtanga Yoga and her time in Mysore working with Pattibhi Jois. She blends this beautifully with a deep understanding and knowledge of the body, born from decades of experience of Craniosacral Therapy and Fascia informed Bodywork. She can see and adjust the body in the most extraordinary way.

Everyone on the weekend had experiences of being adjusted skilfully and safely into places that they did not believe were possible. Lucy loves to work in small groups – there were just 11 of us including Gina and myself, and this created a wonderfully intimate and connected space in which she was able to work in-depth with everyone in the room.

I personally learnt so much from being adjusted and observing how she worked with our students. She left so many wonderful gifts for us, and a legacy for me to continue that work with our students, especially those who attended the workshop.

These days I rarely work with a teacher. Having worked and studied with some of the finest Yoga teachers in the world, and so there are very few teachers that I would consider or want to work with. So it was lovely to be adjusted and challenged once again by Lucy after such a , she is one of the finest Yoga teachers that I have ever had the privilege to work with.

We at Ashtanga Yoga Hastings are pleased to say Lucy has agreed to return to Hastings in 2026, so watch this space for details!

But don’t just take my word for it…here are some testimonials from the weekend:

TESTIMONIALS

Lucy Crawford’s Ashtanga Yoga weekend workshop was a phenomenal experience—deeply profound, intense, and transformative. The practice pushed me beyond my limits, especially with deep backbends and twists (drop backs and pasasana), guiding me to overcome fears and explore new depths in my body and mind. Exploring the Fascial Body and METs workshops were great! Lucy’s wisdom and presence created a space for true growth, leaving me feeling inspired, open, and deeply connected. I'm so grateful to Lucy for such a life changing weekend, and it was a real pleasure to host her at AYH.

Gina

Quite simply an inspired weekend of workshops from one of the best teachers ever!  No question.  This was yoga teaching at the highest level!  Humbled, privileged and grateful to be part of such a loving and inspirational yoga community attracting teachers of international acclaim to our modest abode in Hastings.

Thank you Andy & Gina, truly phenomenal. Haste ye back, Lucy!

I thought the workshop with Lucy was great. I loved the fact that it was a small group at the Wellington Centre. I felt like I got loads of personal attention but also learned a lot from seeing Lucy work with other students. I thought Lucy was great at connecting with all the students. I would definitely come to another workshop with Lucy.
